BISHOP BURK’S VISIT: Sunday, April 28, Rev. Dr. Michael Burk, Bishop of  the  Southeastern Iowa Synod, will make a pastoral visit to Elim. He will preach and engage us in discussion after worship. To encourage  as many Elim members as possible to hear from him, the church council has chosen NOT to offer  our Saturday evening service on April 27. For our time of  discussion  with Bishop Burk,  the  council has determined that we have a more elaborate “Coffee Hour” than normal, featuring fresh, warm, homemade cinnamon rolls, prepared  by our outstanding ECC Chef Kim Turner. This will also serve as a fund-raiser for our two students (McKenna Coleman and Caleb Kusserow) who will be attending Confirmation Camp at EWALU in July. We will also present Bishop Burk with  a check of the  proceeds for our Lenten “Good Gifts” offering for  him to  pass along  to the  ELCA Hunger Appeal. Since so much is happening on this day, we hope that  all Elim members will make this time a priority in  their schedules.

The 2020 sign-up sheet is on the table in the narthex. The cost is $75 per week. Thank you!

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY LUNCH: The Elim/First Congregational Church partnership to provide a noon meal for the Habitat for Humanity volunteers on April 26 continues to finalize plans. Elim has fifteen members signed up to work for portions of the day on the 26th. We also have fifteen members signed up to provide a salad. A Thrivent grant has also been awarded to help with the costs. Amelia Wolken is contacting all of those who have volunteered and will be confirming your volunteer hours and/or salads in writing. Many, many thanks for your help.

THANK YOU: My Elim family and friends, thank you so much for your thoughts, prayers, and cards. I definitely felt them and God’s love and peace surrounding me. I am now healing and on the road to full recovery.

DIAPER DRIVE: Elim is teaming up with the Stork’s Nest until April 30th and asks that you consider supporting  low-income, Marshall County families by donating to the Stork’s Nest Diaper Drive. The Nest is an incentive-based program that provides Marshall County women access to needed baby items by redeeming points earned through participation in prenatal and postnatal health care and educational opportunities. Please help our local families by putting your donations in the crib in the narthex all through April!

Have a great week!
